Intervista a Kristy Bromberg

1. Chi è Kristy Bromberg? Puoi raccontarci qualcosa di te?
Kristy Bromberg è una donna che tende a rimandare le cose forse un po’ troppo, non ha mai abbastanza tempo ma ama il suo lavoro, la sua famiglia e la sua Diet Coke quotidiana.

2. Chi o che cosa ti ha ispirato a diventare una scrittrice?
Ho sempre amato scrivere, ma ho ricominciato a leggere dopo molto tempo. Avevo tre figli di età inferiore ai 5 anni e avevo letto Cinquanta sfumature di Grigio. Non potevo immaginare che mi sarebbe stato d’ispirazione per scrivere il mio primo libro-Driven. Chi avrebbe mai immaginato che da quello sarebbe scaturito tutto quanto?

3. Dove trovi le idee per i tuoi romanzi?
Ovunque. In una canzone. Ascoltando una conversazione in un ristorante. Da frammenti di notizie.

4. La serie Driven è stato un successo a livello internazionale (anche qui da noi in Italia) tanto da diventare un film sulla piattaforma on demand Passionflix. Da dove è nata l’idea di quella storia e dei suoi personaggi?
Colton è interessante perché è l’unico personaggio che era già presente nella mia mente. A essere onesti era come se lo conoscessi ancor prima di scrivere di lui. È difficile spiegarlo ma sembrava reale.

5. Qual è il tuo libro preferito tra tutti quelli che hai scritto?
Questa è una domanda molto difficile perché ogni volta mi sento più attaccata all’ultimo romanzo che ho scritto … ma poi inizio a rileggere quelli più vecchi e mi innamoro di nuovo di quei personaggi. . . quindi ora direi Down Shift ma poi mi ricordo di The Player Duet e poi penso che devo aggiungere the Wicked Ways Duet … ma chi può dimenticare Colton? Quindi, sì, è impossibile decidere.

6. Ci puoi dire qualcosa sul tuo nuovo romanzo pubblicato in Italia? Da dove nasce l’ispirazione per Fake Love?
Adoro scrivere storie di amore/odio e dopo aver scritto storie un po’ più intense e “pesanti”, con Harlow e Zane ho deciso di scrivere una storia più leggera. Mi piaceva l’idea del fingersi innamorati che poi diventa non cercare di innamorarsi. Inoltre, tutti amano vedere l’uomo alfa che si innamora perdutamente.

7. Ci puoi descrivere brevemente i protagonisti di Fake Love? Qual è la scena del libro che ti sei divertita di più a scrivere?
Zane è un ricco imprenditore che sta cercando di far decollare i suoi affari. È un seduttore e un lavoratore instancabile, è insolente e le donne si innamorano facilmente di lui. Harlow è la personificazione della sfortuna, ha una lingua tagliente e una mente arguta. È esuberante e stimolante e non cade ai suoi piedi.
La mia scena preferita è quella della mongolfiera 🙂

8. Quali sono i tuoi autori preferiti?
Ovviamente i romance che adorano tutti – Nora Roberts e molte mie amiche autrici. Tra i non romance c’è Ken Follet, Sidney Sheldon, Colleen Hoover, Sarah J. Maas, etc.

9. Quali sono i 5 libri più belli che hai letto?
Questa è difficile!!! Where the Red Fern Grows, L’altra faccia di mezzanotte di Sidney Sheldon, la serie La corte di rose e di spine di Sarah J. Maas, I pilastri della terra di Ken Follet e…. Accidenti, ce ne sono coooosì tanti.

10. Al di fuori della scrittura cosa ti piace fare? Quali sono i tuoi hobby?
Trascorro MOLTO tempo sul campo di calcio a guardare i miei figli … quindi se essere una “soccer/futbol mom” è un hobby, questo è sicuramente il mio hobby. Lol.

11. Quali sono i tuoi progetti attuali e futuri? Ti sei prefissata degli obiettivi per il 2020?
Non sono mai stata a brava a fare progetti. Alcuni autori riescono a programmare i loro libri anche con 2 anni di anticipo, ma io scrivo solo ciò che mi colpisce in quel determinato momento. Ho appena finito di scrivere un libro e penso che ora mi tufferò a scrivere una trilogia. Ma non ne sono sicura. Vedremo cosa succede.
Tra gli obiettivi da raggiungere per me stessa nel 2020: provare a ritrovare la mia creatività. È stato un anno difficile per me dal punto di vista creativo, quindi mi piacerebbe ritrovarla. Lol.

1. Who is Kristy Bromberg? Tell us something about yourself!
Kristy Bromberg is a woman who procrastinates a little too much, never has enough time, but who loves her job, her family, and her Diet Coke dearly.

2. What or who inspired you to become an author?
I’ve always loved to write, but I started reading again after a long hiatus. I had 3 kids under the age of 5 and I read Fifty Shades of Grey. Little did I know that would inspire me to start outlining my first book – Driven. Who knew all of this would come from that?

3. Where did you find your idea for your books?
I find them anywhere and everywhere. In a song lyric. Overhearing a conversation in a restaurant. In a snippet from the news.

4. Your Driven series was a huge success all around the world (in Italy too) and has been adapted through on demand platform, Passionflix. Where did you find your idea for this story and how do you choose and build your characters?
Colton is interesting because he’s the only character that was just -there- for me in my head. It felt like I knew him before I wrote him to be honest. It’s hard to explain it, but he seemed real.

5. If you could pick one from all your books, which one are you most attached to?
That’s such a hard question because I feel like I’m most attached to the last book I wrote… but then I start going through older books and fall in love with those characters all over again . . . so I’d say Down Shift but then remember The Player Duet and then think I need to add in the Wicked Ways Duet … but who can forget Colton? So, yeah, I can’t decide.

6. Can you tell us something about your new release in Italy? What inspired Fake Love?
I love writing enemies to lovers romances and after writing some heavier stories, I decided to write a lighter story in Harlow and Zane. I liked the idea of pretending to be in love and then trying not to fall in love. Plus, everyone loves to see the alpha male fall in love hard.

7. Give us an insight into your main characters of Fake Love. What scene was your favorite to write?
Zane is a rich entrepreneur who is trying to get his business off the ground. He’s a player and a workaholic with a smart mouth and women typically fall for him easily. Harlow is a down on her luck spokesperson with a smart mouth and a witty mind. She’s feisty and challenging and doesn’t fall for him.
My favorite scene to write was the hot air balloon scene 🙂

8. Who are your favorite authors?
Typically the same romance ones as all of yours – Nora Roberts and a lot of my fellow friends/authors. Non-romance would be Ken Follet, Sidney Sheldon, Colleen Hoover, Sarah J. Maas, etc.

9. What’s on your top 5 list for the best book you’ve ever read?
This is hard!!! Where the Red Fern Grows, The Other Side of Midnight by Sidney Sheldon, The A Court of Thorn and Roses series by Sarah J. Maas, Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follet, and …. Gosh, ssooooooo many more.

10. Outside of writing, do you have any hobbies and/or anything you’re passionate about?
I spend A LOT of time at the soccer field watching my kids… so if being a ‘soccer/futbol mom’ is a hobby then that’s definitely my hobby. Lol.

11. What are your current and future projects? Have you set any goals for yourself in 2020?
I’m always bad at plotting out my projects. Some authors have their books mapped out 2 years in advance but I just write what strikes me at the time. I just finished writing one book and now think I’m going to dive in to writing a trilogy. But… I’m not sure. We’ll see what happens.
For myself in 2020 – to try and find my creativity again. It’s been a hard year for me creatively so I’d love to find it again. Lol.
